Cards in Spanish
The most convenient option if you play or collect in Spain: you understand all the text on the cards, ideal for starting, for playing with friends, and for gifting. Availability is somewhat more limited than in English, but it covers the main sets.
Cards in English
English is the international standard: it's the most used language in tournaments, has the highest availability, and usually offers the widest variety of products. If you play competitively or want the broadest catalog, English is a safe bet.
Cards in Japanese
Japanese cards usually come out earlier than other languages and are highly valued for their print quality and exclusive editions. It's a favorite among many collectors. The "downside": you won't understand the text if you're going to play, though for collecting it doesn't matter.
Which one should I choose?
- Starting out or playing at home: Spanish.
- Competitive / maximum availability: English.
- Collecting, special editions, print quality: Japanese.
- Gifting: Spanish (understandable) or Japanese (more "special").
A note on value
There isn't one "better" language in general: the value depends on the card, its rarity, and condition, not just the language. Many collectors combine: Spanish/English for playing and Japanese for collector's items.
