If there is one reason why the 30th Anniversary Celebration set is going to fly off the shelves, it’s them: the 30 Pikachu for the 30th anniversary of the Pokémon TCG. Thirty unique illustrations, one in every booster pack, signed by top-tier artists. And the last two weeks have been non-stop: Pokémon has already shown 19 of the 30, including a very special one drawn by Ken Sugimori, the original Pokémon illustrator, and the two Pikachu ex that anchor the set. Here is the full breakdown, from collector to collector.

One Pikachu per pack: how it works
A quick reminder of why this set is unlike any other: 30th Anniversary Celebration releases on September 16, 2026 worldwide, all its cards are holographic, and each booster pack guarantees one of the 30 Pikachu. Each one carries its own special numbering (01/30, 02/30...) in addition to the standard set number, and they all share a glittery, firework-effect finish that covers the entire card. It's the same idea as the 25 Pikachu from Celebrations in 2021, but elevated: more cards, more artists, and a much flashier finish.
If you want the full context of the set and all its products, you can find it in our 30th Anniversary Guide.
Ken Sugimori's Pikachu kicks off the collection
The most emotional reveal arrived on August 11: Pikachu 01/30 is signed by Ken Sugimori, the original Pokémon artist, the man who drew the first 151. And it shows: it’s a chubby Pikachu with classic proportions, directly reminiscent of the 1996 Base Set card. In the English edition, it is card 023/128.

For the veteran collector, this card is THE nod of the anniversary: the Pikachu from the one who drew it first, thirty years later. It is poised to be one of the most sought-after of the set despite not being the rarest.
Day and Night Pikachu ex: the set's star duo
Numbers 053/128 and 054/128 are the two Pikachu ex of the set, one for day and one for night, and their Special Illustration Rare versions (149/128 and 150/128) were revealed this past weekend. Both SIRs are signed by kantaro and form a beautiful diptych: the daytime party with Espeon, Furfrou, and friends, and the nighttime firework celebration with Umbreon and Eevee. Between the two, they hide more than twenty cameos of Pokémon from the set itself.

They aren't just for show in the game either: the daytime one searches your deck for any number of Basic Pokémon with Pika-Pika Parade and hits for 200 with Thunderbolt, while the nighttime one accelerates energies with Zip-Zap Frenzy. Both will also appear as promos in the Ultra-Premium Collection alongside Espeon ex and Umbreon ex.

The gallery: the 19 Pikachu revealed so far
Here they all are, ordered by their special numbering. Since early August, Pokémon Japan has been revealing them in batches, and the artistic level is extremely high. Take note of two gems: 25/30 is signed by Atsuko Nishida, the designer who created Pikachu 30 years ago, and 10/30 by Tomokazu Komiya is a full-blown tribute to Munch’s The Scream. Eleven remain to be revealed: 02, 05, 07, 09, 13, 21, 23, 24, 26, 29, and 30. We will keep this article updated as they appear. And the reveals aren't just Pikachu: this same week, Reshiram, Zekrom, Unown, and Drifloon from the set have been shown, a sign that the trickle of reveals will be daily until the launch.
Our take at Collectowny
This set is designed to be opened, and the 30 Pikachu are the reason: every booster pack guarantees one, so the opening experience never truly disappoints, and completing all 30 will become the collector challenge of the fall. Our reading, data in hand: the two kantaro SIRs will be the expensive cards of the set along with the most iconic Pikachu illustrations, and the Sugimori 01/30 has that sentimental value which isn't measured in rarity but in demand. Concrete recommendation: if your plan is to complete all 30 Pikachu, it works out better by the box than by individual packs; if you only want the stars, go for the Ultra-Premium Collection on the day it releases. And whatever your path, every Pikachu you pull deserves a sleeve and toploader from the first minute, because the glitter finish marks the edges just by looking at it.
